The owners of this hilltop site in Mondovi wanted the custom home of their dreams to let in plenty of light and feature the beautiful views of the surrounding farmlands and forest. Our skilled team worked with them to create a spacious, farmhouse home with high-end finishes where they can enjoy the rest of their lives.
The three-bedroom, two-bath home has a ground floor walkout and cantilever roofs where the edges extend well past the home. We framed the entryway with beautiful, durable timber and installed a floor-to-roof stone facade creating the look and feel of a beautiful mountaintop lodge right here in the Dairy State. The homeowners chose many materials that blend the outdoors with the interior of the home, such as the wood staircase, shelving and custom masonry work.
The attached multi-car garage hosts multiple vehicles with plenty of room for a chest freezer and fridge, plus storage for landscaping and gardening tools and outdoor or sporting equipment.
Our clients are always happy to have a heated space to reduce wear and tear on their vehicles during Wisconsin winters. Plus, who wouldn’t want a covered, walled-in path to bring in groceries in cold and wet weather? There’s plenty of space to store food near the kitchen in the pantry with custom adjustable shelving.
The two garage doors feature small windows to let in light and faux hinges make it appear as if the doors swing open from the center. Instead, they roll upward on a modern track. These small touches add up to create an upscale farmhouse look across the interior and exterior of this Mondovi custom home.
The covered deck offers incredible views, and is an excellent space to enjoy the outdoors away from rain or snow. We built a custom fire pit into the custom concrete, and installed a metal fire ring with cutouts of pine trees. This space will no doubt facilitate many nights making s’mores and enjoying the company of loved ones late into the evening.
Inside, we framed the electric fireplace in the living room with a custom wood mantle the homeowners can decorate for the holidays or use to host photos or items from their travels. The electric fireplace creates ambiance without requiring the mess or hassle of sourcing wood. Plus, it’s a great low-maintenance option for a family who wants to cozy up with a fire at the touch of a button.
The open concept kitchen and living room feature light cabinets and walls, and more windows with wonderful views of the surrounding land. Interior stairs lead down to the basement and feature wire cable railing to continue that luxurious, spacious look. The white subway tile behind the stove and simple black hardware (including the sink fixture) look striking together and match the color scheme of the rest of the house.
We collaborated with the family to design two full bathrooms and installed high-end, low-maintenance tiled flooring and showers. The master bathroom also hosts a luxurious soaking tub for relaxing after a long day. The walk-in master bathroom shower features a glass door, dark tile and two built-in niches for storing personal hygiene items where they’re easy to reach. The double vanity has two sinks and mirrors, making it easy for both homeowners to get ready in the morning and prepare for bed without getting in one another’s way.
Locker-like storage and countertops in the laundry area creates individual cubbies and hanging spaces for each family member to stash jackets, shoes, and other personal belongings. A custom closet is located directly off the master bathroom and features adjustable hangers, cubbies, and shelves for shoes, clothing, and outerwear.
We were happy to hand over the keys to these homeowners after 8 months of building their dream Mondovi custom home. The kids were excited to rip around on their dirt bikes and enjoy the outdoors, and the parents were ready to relax and take in the surrounding Wisconsin views. Thoughtful storage and indoor/outdoor spaces were at the top of these homeowner’s list for this forever home.
