Highly Custom Rice Lake Home

This young family was ready to create a home they will love for many years to come. We worked together to create a custom plan with places for the kids to play, holiday decor to hang, and memorable meals to be made.

Our skilled team spent four months crafting this three-bedroom, two-bath home near Rice Lake. The family was looking forward to cozying up in the completed home on chilly Wisconsin winter nights, so we installed in-floor heat throughout. This innovative heating system radiates heat through the floors, warming the home while saving energy and reducing utility bills.

When the homeowner found a photo of a fireplace they loved on Pinterest, our skilled team recreated the look. We built a row of cabinets on either side of the fireplace surround, and installed a window above each storage area making perfect reading nooks. Now, the young family can warm up around their custom fireplace.

The home has a modern farmhouse feel thanks to the shiplap walls, interior and exterior beams. We installed custom lighting in all the soffit areas outside (the visible underside of the roof that extends out from the home) to give off a warming glow at night year-round.

We installed a custom range hood above the kitchen stove to remove odors, steam, and smoke. The state-of-the-art appliance will improve air quality in the home while reducing fire hazards. Plus, in the summer it will remove some of the heat produced when cooking. This family won’t hesitate to use the stove or oven even if it’s hot outside - pizza, here we come!

This family will stay organized and quickly find recipe ingredients because of the custom kitchen cabinets and walk-in pantry. The frosted pantry door lets in light without showing the contents, allowing for a little controlled chaos among the snacks and dry ingredients stored within. The nearby large entryway also hosts a sizable closet where every shoe and coat has a home.

A large, centrally located farmhouse sink makes meal prep and dishes a breeze, and the white subway tile backsplash is durable and easy to clean. There is a beautiful mix of ambient natural light and task lighting in the open concept kitchen and living room area. A large island offers an excellent place for the kids to eat breakfast before school and the parents to dash off last minute emails or chop ingredients for dinner.

The master bathroom features a custom tiled zero-entry shower. That means it’s lipless - no stepping in and out. This style shower looks modern and is easier to clean because there are fewer surfaces and corners to collect soap scum. The floor tiles tilt slightly downward toward the drain, ensuring all water stays in the shower minimizing mess. The freestanding tub is a perfect place to clean little ones or relax in some bubbles after a long day.

We designed and installed a walk-in closet off the master bedroom with plenty of adjustable hanging poles and shelves. The pitched ceiling and dark blue shiplap accent wall behind the bed are reminiscent of an East coast house with a maritime background. Sconces on either side of the bed offer evening light that is easy on the eyes.

We enjoyed working on the many custom elements of this home, including installing the shiplap wall in the master bedroom and painting it a custom hue. One of the children’s rooms has a custom painted design, and we painted and color stamped the concrete at the front of the home.

This family opted to elevate the washer and dryer to make them easier to reach. The homeowners selected appliances and fixtures that would use less water and electricity while saving money and energy over time.

Once we finished the home, we ran an energy test and it earned a 10/10, a point of pride and mark of quality we reach for on all our builds. This metric means the homeowners will save thousands of dollars on home energy bills thanks to smart insulation and updated materials.

These excited homeowners were hands-on with design choices, ensuring a true collaboration to create their true dream home. We were happy to help bring their dreams to reality in creating a home where they can grow together.
