While we’re known for our custom builds, we also offer expert remodels! This client owned an older building with some exterior weathering that needed updating. We were happy to step in for this short project to help the owner protect the home for many years to come.
Our skilled team started by removing the existing siding and soffit (the material lining the bottom of the roof overhang). We installed 1-inch foam insulation to prevent air exchange and improve interior temperature control.
Next, we installed tyvek, a fabric-like material that wraps the entire building and prevents air and water from getting into the home. This is a critical step in weather protection. We removed all exterior doors and windows and replaced them with new, energy efficient models.
Finally, we wrapped metal around windows on the existing screened-in porch to ensure the wood frames last longer. We worked with the homeowners budget to preserve these older windows without having to replace them.
Since this was an older building, there were discrepancies in wall thicknesses. Our team adjusted our plans to allot time and materials to even and square the framing before installing new windows. This extra step was crucial in preventing moisture and airflow exchange due to uneven, improperly installed doors and windows.
