When this client decided to build her forever home, she knew didn’t want to have to make a million little time-consuming decisions. To help her retain autonomy without getting too overwhelmed, we worked with her to customize our standard Spec 1 plan, ultimately building a high-quality, long-lasting home in an Eau Claire neighborhood she loved.
We collaborated with the client to make some key changes to the original plan, including customizing the entryway with stairs as opposed to zero-entry. We also customized by adding a hip roof to match her aesthetic preferences. This unique feature has four planes, creating a strong, durable structure with a country cottage style on the exterior. The roof angle and planes encourage rain and snow to fall off the roof, minimizing maintenance for this busy client.
The client wanted her basement finished with features that would establish it as an everyday living space. We helped her do this with the addition of a wet bar and built-in microwave that improved overall functional use of the space. She enjoyed the opportunity to choose the backsplash tile for the wetbar, ultimately going with a unique hexagonal design that complemented the home’s modern style.
The client went with an overall modern color scheme with dark-painted cabinetry and beams contrasting with light flooring and furniture. Our experienced team created some functional yet stylish solutions, like frosted glass pocket doors between the basement living space and exercise room for privacy, custom cabinets for ample organization options, and quartz countertops throughout the home for durable, high-quality food prep surfaces.
We worked with the client to add some cozy touches as well with a custom fireplace in the living room, and carpeting in the bedrooms. The back covered porch will also be a space to gather and relax while staging protected from the elements. We worked with the client to select rot- and pest-free, low-maintenance cedar wood as the material for the porch.
Once the exterior was completed, we installed an irrigation system to maintain a beautiful lawn in the summer. After this six month project, the client is thrilled to live in a Chippewa Falls neighborhood they love — and in a house that truly feels like home. We were thrilled to create a custom home that matched her style and needs, while minimizing stressful decision-making along the way.
